SEA Conference – Saturday 9th November 2024 – NCVO, London

“In The Room Where It Happens” – Tales of existential psychotherapy from behind the door.

What does existential psychotherapy mean in practical terms? How do we use the phenomenological method in the work that we do? Why do we work like this? What can we share and learn from each other about this unique and special approach to psychotherapy?

The aim of this conference is to take you into the therapy room of the existential psychotherapist, to let you see behind the door after it has closed.

This year’s conference will be in-person only, followed by an online conference in Easter 2025. We will be bringing you an engaging, interactive day of presentations and workshops followed by an Open Space Forum for everyone to get involved with.

Call for submissions. Please use this link to submit your idea for a workshop or interactive presentation here.

The deadline for submissions is Sunday 28th July.

Have a seed of an idea but forty five minutes seems too long?

We want to facilitate new voices so if you’re unconfident in being able to fill forty five minutes please submit your information and idea and make it clear how long you’d like to talk for. For example this may be a short talk inspired by a first client or an unusual situation in your consulting room, or even thoughts around emailing clients that you’ve not developed into a theory but feel the community would benefit from – we want to help this become a reality. We can’t guarantee that we will be able to make it work, but if three of you bravely stick your hand up when in years past you’ve not wanted to fill the void of forty five minutes and it’s all related to existential psychotherapy then we’ll have a session between you.

Unsure of how to present?

We’re aware that standing up in front of a sea of ’names’ who you’ve learnt about and heard stories of can be anxiety provoking, as can public speaking generally. Sadly we can’t stop that, but we can potentially help ensure you’re confident in your ability to come across as well as you’re capable of, so if this resonates, submit your idea, and try and tell us what help you may want and we will be in touch if we think we can support.

Tickets for the conference will be going on sale in August.
