UKCP Registration

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR UKCP THROUGH THE SEA?

The SEA is an Organisational Member (OM) of the Constructivist and Existential College (CEC), within the UKCP. The SEA is an Accrediting OM for the Existential training at Regents University London, as well as for any training accredited by EAP and
FETE. Graduates from the above schools can request the SEA to register them with UKCP, provided that the necessary conditions are met.

Here is an explanation of the necessary procedure.

1. ELIGIBILITY FOR REGISTRATION WITH UKCP VIA SEA MEMBERSHIP

The Training Institution advises the SEA Registration Officer, in June and October each year, of the names and emails of trainees who have completed their training and are therefore eligible to register with the UKCP. On receipt of this list, the SEA Registration Officer emails the
graduates.

Once trainees submit their application, the Membership Team at the UKCP will contact the SEA Registration Officer to ask for confirmation that the applicant is eligible for registration. The SEA Registration Officer responds appropriately and confirms that the modality will be Existential Psychotherapist.

The names and contact details of the new applicants are added to the list of SEA members registered with UKCP, which the SEA Registration Officer maintains.

2. ANNUAL SEA-UKCP REGISTRATION RENEWAL

All SEA members who register with UKCP are required to undertake this annual renewal process whereby SEA checks that members comply with UKCP requirements for clinical hours, supervision, CPD; whether complaints have been made against them and that they have insurance cover. This ensures SEA can confirm to UKCP that the members are in
good standing with SEA.

This process takes place in June and October each year (depending on when the trainee graduated). The renewal form and the CPD schedule . The CPD requirements document is also sent out.

When submissions are received, the SEA Registration Officer checks that they are complete and that all criteria are fulfilled.

The SEA Registration Officer reports completed reaccreditations to the Registration Committee in July and November annually. If any issues arise where registrants do not provide forms or do not meet requirements, the SEA Registration Officer will advise the SEA Registration Committee and a course of action is agreed.

3. FIVE-YEAR REACCREDITATION

This process is carried out as SEA members become due for 5YR. The SEA Registration Officer liaises with the UKCP Membership Team each year to ensure that records are in agreement. The form is attached for reference, together with the CPD schedule. The CPD requirements document is also sent out at this time.

This process takes place in June and October each year (depending on when the trainee graduated). The renewal form and the CPD schedule are attached. The CPD requirements document is also sent out.

The SEA Registration Officer reports completed 5YR to the Registration Committee in July and November annually. If any issues arise where registrants do not provide forms or do not meet requirements, the SEA Registration Officer advises the SEA Registration Committee and a course of action is agreed. The personal statement is forwarded to the Chair to be reviewed by a member of the Registration Committee. Once these are approved, the process is complete and the SEA Registration Officer emails the UKCP Membership Committee to confirm successful 5Yrs.

CPD Recording and Reporting

1. Following submission of your Re-accreditation paperwork, consideration by the
registration committee of the SEA, a decision will be made either to:
1. a)  approve re-accreditation
2. b)  ask for specific requirements to be met within a time period (such as
additional courses, supervision etc.) in order to be put forward
2. In the event of either b) or c), the applicant is entitled to a written assessment
supporting the decision and stipulating specific requirements

Appeals Procedure

Should the applicant wish to appeal a decision made by the registration committee concerning any aspects of the CPD policy, they are required to write to the Registration Officer SEArenewal@gmail.com requesting such an appeal and provide supporting evidence for this. The Registration Committee will then appoint an independent group of three peers to consider the appeal. Should this decision also be negative, the appeal will be forwarded to the Constructivist and Existential College to ensure due process has been followed. This decision will then be final.
